A heatable hose assembly (10) having a helically corrugated central polymer tube (13) of polyether ether ketone wrapped with a layer of polymer tape (14). A means (16) for heating the central polymer tube is arranged on the layer of high strength tape as is a means (15) for monitoring and controlling the means for heating the central polymer tube. Surrounding the arrangement is a layer of thermal insulation (17) and a protective jacket (18). The heatable hose assembly is of utility for use in systems for the monitoring of acid gases from emission stacks.
