2045529 9009086 PCTABS00001 A flexible heating element (10) includes a flexible sheet substrate (12), on top of which is a layer of an electrically conductive material (14) for generating heat on conduction of an electric current. Two copper strip electrodes (16) are used to apply an electric current to the conductive material (14). Each electrode is bonded to the conductive material by means of a thermoplastic polymeric based adhesive (18). The surface of each electrode (16) nearest the conductive material (14) is embossed with protuberances (17) which penetrate the adhesive layer (18) to improve electrical contact between the electrode (16) and the conductive material (14).
