ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In an integrated flexible method for the production of ammonia and urea comprising feeding a gaseous stream consisting essentially of CO2, H2 and N2 to an ammonium carbamate reactor to thereby form ammonium carbamate wherein a portion of said stream is diverted to a decarbonation area for the removal of CO2 and then recombined with the undiverted portion of said stream, feeding said ammonium carbamate to a urea reactor, and recovering urea from said urea reactor, the improve- ment comprising: (a) feeding H2and N2 from said ammonium carbamate reactor to an ammonia synthesis reac- tor to thereby produce ammonia; (b) feeding said ammonia to an ammonia absorber to thereby form a concen- trated aqueous solution of ammonia; and (c) feeding a first portion of said concen- trated aqueous solution of ammonia to said ammonium carbamate reactor.
