Disclosed is an improved protective pad for protecting the human body against impact forces. The pad is formed using layers of high density closed-cell polymer foam and low density closed-cell polymer foam. The high density layer absorbs and dissipates impact forces, while the low density layers acts as a cushion against the human body, and provides for comfort. The pad can be provided with a plurality of hole through its thickness to provide for breathability and release of heat from the human body, the surface area of holes being great enough to allow for adequate ventilation but not so great as to significantly decrease the protection offered by the pad. The pad can also be provided with a plurality of score lines across its surface and partially through its thickness to provide for flexibility and conformability to the part of the human body being protected.
L'invention concerne un rembourrage protecteur amélioré permettant de protéger le corps humain contre les forces d'impact. Le rembourrage est constitué de couches d'une mousse polymère cellulaire de haute densité et d'une mousse polymère cellulaire de faible densité. La couche de haute densité absorbe et dissipe les forces d'impact, tandis que la couche de faible densité fait office de coussin contre le corps humain et lui procure du confort. Le rembourrage peut comporter sur toute son épaisseur une pluralité de trous, qui lui confèrent une perméabilité à l'air et permettent la libération de la chaleur produite par le corps. La surface des trous est assez grande pour permettre une aération adéquate, mais pas assez pour diminuer de manière significative la protection offerte par le rembourrage. Celui-ci peut également comporter sur toute sa surface et sur une partie de son épaisseur une pluralité de lignes de pliure, qui lui donnent de la souplesse et lui permettent de s'adapter à la partie du corps à protéger.
