A flexible scintillator-type level detector (10), in which the scintillator (18) is made from a flexible tube (12) substantially filled with a liquid scintillating material (16) to provide flexibility in at least two, and preferably three, dimensions. At least one end (32) is aligned for operable connection to a photodetector (14, 20). Outer surfaces of the flexible tube (12) may be covered with an inwardly-facing light reflective material (30) and/or light-excluding material or flexible armored casing (22). The scintillator (18) may include a variable-volume expansion chamber (110, 152, 176) to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction of the liquid scintillator material (16).
L'invention concerne un détecteur flexible de niveau du type à scintillation (10), dans lequel le scintillateur (18) est constitué d'un tube flexible (12) sensiblement rempli d'un matériau liquide scintillant (16) afin d'apporter une certaine flexibilité dans au moins deux, de préférence trois, dimensions. Au moins une extrémité (32) est alignée de façon à être reliée de manière fonctionnelle à un photodétecteur (14, 20). Les surfaces extérieures du tube flexible (12) peuvent être recouvertes d'un matériau réfléchissant la lumière tourné vers l'intérieur (30) et/ou d'un matériau écartant la lumière ou d'un boîtier blindé flexible (22). Le scintillateur (18) peut comprendre une chambre d'expansion à volume variable (110, 152, 176) afin de compenser l'expansion et la contraction thermiques du matériau liquide scintillant (16).
