ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Flexible hook-and-pile patches are provided for connecting together clothing items, such as socks, during laundering and storage so that matching items are not inadvertently separated from each other. The patches are made from a strip which has a flexible backing material, a longitudinal area thereof having pile structures disposed thereon, and a parallel longitudinal area thereof having hook structures disposed thereon. Each patch is formed by cutting the strip transversely. The space between the hook area and the pile area on each patch acts as a hinge so that if one area is secured to the clothing item the other area may be folded over to engage the one area and prevent inadvertent catching of the hooks with the clothing fabric. When two items are to be connected together the hook and pile areas are separated on each item and the hook and pile areas on one item are joined to the pile and hook areas respectively on the other item.
