A flexible coupling device (10) comprises an inner hub (34), an outer hub (36) and a rubber core (38) bonded between the inner hub (34) and the outer hub (36). The axial length (L1) of the rubber core (38) at its inner radius (R1) is greater than the axial length (L2) of the rubber core (38) at its outer radius? (R2). The outer radius to inner radius preferably has a ratio of about 3:1. The inner and outer hubs are connectable between a pulley (14) and a driven accessory (12). The shaft flexible coupling (10) acts as an angular damper and as a universal joint.
