A flexible swage improves the prior art swaging knowledge by avoiding a drawback of swage use. The swage comprises a support and a cup-shaped swage member which when engaged with one another form a swage which acts much like the prior art swage devices to reform a deformable junction. Once the reformation is complete however and the swage must be removed from the well, the swage cup disengages from the support and is allowed to deflect several thousandths of an inch, significantly reducing drag on the deformable junction while the swage device is being removed from the hole.
