A linear actuator (figure 2) for carrying read/write heads (18, 19) into engagement with a recording medium (14) includes a carriage (27) and a subcarriage (34). Flexible springs (36, 38) mount the subcarriage (34) to the carriage (27). A voice coil motor has a coil (22) mounted on the subcarriage (34). Initial energization of the coil (22) causes linear movement of the carriage (27) flexing the springs (36, 38) to produce small incremental movement of the heads (18, 19). Further energization of the coil (22) causes movement of the subcarriage (34) on the bushings (30, 32) to provide coarse adjustment of the actuator (figure 2).
Mécanisme de commande linéaire (figure 2) conçu pour supporter des têtes de lecture/écriture (18, 19) en prise avec un support d'enregistrement (14), qui comprend un chariot (27) et un sous-chariot (34). Des ressorts flexibles (36, 38) fixent le sous-chariot au chariot (27). Un moteur pour bobine mobile est pourvu d'une bobine (22) montée sur le sous-chariot (34). La mise sous tension initiale de la bobine (22) provoque le déplacement linéaire du chariot (27) qui agit sur les ressorts (36, 38) pour générer un petit déplacement progressif des têtes (18, 19). Une autre mise sous tension de la bobine (22) provoque un déplacement du sous-chariot (34) sur les traversées isolantes (30, 32) pour permettre un réglage approximatif du mécanisme de commande (figure 2).
