A flicker photometer comprises generating means for generating two beams of light of different colours. Both beams are directed to a viewing means and a subject can vary the intensity of light from one beam relative to other. The colour of the light seen by the subject is caused to alternate by a shutter which is rotated about an axis by a motor, the shutter having a portion which extends non-perpendicularly relative to the axis to facilitate a compact construction of photometer. The performance of the photometer is improved by screens which scatter light before it reaches the subject. A first of the screens reflects light from one beam, whilst a second screen transmits light from the other. If light of wavelengths to which the eye is less sensitive is passed through the second screen, whilst light of a wavelength to which the eye is more sensitive passes through the first screen, the screens help to make it practicable for the generating means to use a single lamp to produce the light for both beams.
La présente invention concerne un photomètre à papillotement comprenant un générateur (1, 8, 4) permettant de générer deux faisceaux lumineux de différentes couleurs, lesquels sont dirigés vers un dispositif d'observation (190), un sujet pouvant faire varier l'intensité lumineuse d'un faisceau par rapport à l'autre. La couleur de la lumière observée par le sujet est alternée par un cache (18) qu'un moteur fait tourner autour d'un axe. Ce cache est pourvu d'une partie qui s'étend de manière non perpendiculaire par rapport à l'axe pour faciliter la construction compacte du photomètre. Le rendement du photomètre est amélioré grâce à des écrans qui diffusent la lumière avant qu'elle n'arrive au sujet. Un premier écran reflète la lumière à partir d'un faisceau, tandis qu'un second écran émet la lumière à partir de l'autre écran. Si les longueurs d'ondes lumineuses auxquelles l'oeil est moins sensible traversent le second écran au moment du passage d'une longueur d'onde lumineuse à laquelle l'oeil est plus sensible à travers le premier écran, les écrans facilitent l'utilisation par le générateur d'une seule lampe (1) afin de produire de la lumière pour les deux faisceaux.
