A flightless rock auger (10) is used for drilling postholes through rock with the use of hydraulic pressure and at slow revolution per minute and can function utilizing only the weight of the auger. The rock auger is used in combination with a conventional flighted auger used for drilling postholes in dirt and clay. Further, the rock auger (10) is designed for use with pressure drilling units (16) as well for cutting a circular hole through the rock and forming a plug which is to be lodged in the cavity of the rock auger cylinder (20) to be removed from the posthole. A portion of the cylindrical body (20) of the rock auger (10) can be removed to allow quick clearance of the plug.
L'invention concerne une tarière à roche sans pas servant au forage de trous de poteau au travers de roches par pression hydraulique, avec une faible vitesse de rotation. Ladite tarière à roche est employée avec une tarière filetée habituelle servant au forage de trous de poteau dans des déblais et de l'argile. Lors d'un forage de trou de poteau, la tarière à roche remplace la tarière filetée habituelle pour le forage et l'extraction de roches ou d'autres matériaux durs du le trou de poteau. Ladite tarière à roche est conçue pour être utilisée à des vitesses de rotation très faibles et peut fonctionner avec le seul poids de la tarière. Cependant, ladite tarière à roche est également conçue pour être utilisée avec des unités de forage sous pression, et dans le but de forer un trou circulaire dans la roche et de créer un bouchon destiné à être logé dans la cavité du cylindre de la tarière à roche devant être retiré du trou de poteau. L'assemblage rapide permet de relier rapidement l'arbre d'une unité de forage sous pression à la tarière sans pas devant remplacer rapidement la tarière à roche de manière à extraire rapidement des déblais tendres du trou de poteau. Un trépan pilote peut être disposé dans la tête de coupe de manière qu'il s'étende vers l'extérieur en saillie par rapport à la tête de coupe afin d'attaquer le trou, casser de la roche, et maintenir la tarière en position lors du forage. Une partie du corps cylindrique peut être retirée afin de dégager rapidement le bouchon.
