A transfer mechanism provided for transferring a load between an upper conveyor extending along a first axis and a lower conveyor extending along a second axis, vertically displaced from the first axis. A conveyor system is provided for controlling the flow of a plurality of containers therealong. The conveyor system includes a conveyor having first and second opposite ends and an upwardly facing surface for slidably receiving the plurality of containers thereon.
