A timing programmable flip flop system comprised of apparatus for receiving a data signal, apparatus for receiving a clock signal, a flip flop having data and clock inputs, a first delay line having plural serial delay elements for receiving one of the data signal and clock signal and apparatus for delivering a corresponding delayed one of the data signal and clock signal to a corresponding data or clock input, and a delivery circuit for receiving another of the data signal and clock signal and for delivering a corresponding another of the data signal and clock signal to another of the data or clock input, apparatus for selecting a number of delay elements in the delay line whereby a delay in one of the data signal and clock signal is adjustable, and apparatus for providing an output signal from the flip flop.
