A protective headwear comprising a shell, a chin bar, and a mounting assembly for pivotally mounting the chin bar to the shell so as to be pivotable between a closed position and an open position. The mounting assembly comprises a female portion and a male portion mounted to the female portion. When pivoting the chin bar from the closed position to the open position, one of the female or male portions rotates relative to the other causing a longitudinal displacement of one of the female and male portions with respect to the other. The foregoing widens the chin bar during passage from said closed position to said open position. A flip-up mechanism including a mounting assembly for allowing smooth movements of the chin bar of a flip-up style full- face helmet between open and closed positions is also provided.

Casque de protection comprenant une coque, une mentonnière et un ensemble monture destiné au montage pivotant de la mentonnière sur la coque, permettant à cette mentonnière de pivoter entre une position fermée et une position ouverte. L'ensemble monture comprend une partie femelle et une partie mâle, cette dernière étant montée sur la première. Lors du pivotement de la mentonnière de la position fermée à la position ouverte, une des deux parties, mâle ou femelle, tourne par rapport à l'autre, provoquant un déplacement longitudinal de l'une des deux parties par rapport à l'autre. Le mouvement précédent élargit la mentonnière durant le passage de ladite position fermée à ladite position ouverte. L'invention concerne aussi un mécanisme rabattable comportant un ensemble monture destiné à réaliser des mouvements sans à-coup de la mentonnière d'un casque intégral de style rabattable entre les positions ouverte et fermée.
