The proposed float (10) with automatic triggering device for an angling device comprises an inner sleeve (13) which can be pushed into a float housing (11) along the housing's longitudinal axis against the force of a tensioning spring (14) and, once pushed in, is secured by a spring catch (15). In that position, the spring catch (15) can be locked by a contact lever (21) and released again by the excursion of the contact lever (21) in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the float housing (11). A fishing line (23) is led through the inner sleeve (13) and so connected to a driver element (25, 26) located above the inner sleeve (13) as to ensure that the inner sleeve (13) when moving from the pushed-in locked position into the starting position carries with it, via the driver element (25, 26), the fishing line (23) and a hook (28) attached thereto.
