ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE A wear pad for a cutting tool is disclosed. The wear pad is spring loaded by means of belville washers that may be reloaded so that a relatively large force results for any movement of the wear pad. The spring loaded wear pad is used with two conventional fixed wear pads on a tool, for example used in deep boring intersecting holes. The spring loaded wear pad stabilizes the drill when drilling intersecting holes and holes that are disclosed at right angles to one another and also stabilizes the drill when starting new holes.
