A CMOS bi-directional output driver normally operates at 3.3 volts, but is capable of communicating with devices that operate at 5 volts. Also described is a floating well output driver that can operate with devices using a power supply voltage of 5 volts. The driver is described by way of example as being capable of driving 3.3 volts when active, but can tolerate up to 5 volts when disabled.
