A brush-type cosmetics applicator is provided that has bristle characteristics that vary at regular intervals along the length of the applicator. A plurality of annular members (e.g., disks, sleeves, rings, beads, etc.) are each individually formed by, for example, molding. Each annular member has a central bore. At least some of the plurality of annual members are flocked, preferably on an outwardly directed surface, with fibers of a desired diameter, hardness, flexibility, length and composition (material). The remaining annular members may not be flocked, or may be flocked with fibers having one or more characteristics different from the fibers used on the first group, e.g., a different diameter, hardness, flexibility, length or composition, or a combination thereof. Alternatively, each annular member of the second group may be flocked on a surface different from the surface flocked on each annular member of the first group. As another alternative, each annular member of the second group, whether flocked with the same or different fibers, or not flocked, may have a radial or axial dimension that is different from the annual members of the first group. Annular members from each group are arranged consecutively by way of the bore in each annular member on a shaft or pin to form the applicator portion of an applicator. The annular members are arranged in sequences that yield the desired applicator characteristics. For example, annular members from the first group may be provided with long bristles and be alternated with annular members from the second group provided with shorter bristles to form a brush-type applicator with improved coating and combing abilities.
L'invention concerne un applicateur de cosmétique du type brosse possédant des caractéristiques de poils disposés à des intervalles réguliers sur la longueur dudit applicateur. Une pluralité d'éléments annulaires (par exemple des disques, manchons, bagues, perles, etc.) sont chacun individuellement formé, par exemple par moulage. Chaque élément annulaire possède un alésage central. Au moins une partie des éléments annulaires sont floqués, de préférence sur une surface orientée vers l'extérieur, au moyen de fibres possédant un diamètre, une dureté, une souplesse, une longueur, et une composition (matériau) désirés. Le reste des éléments annulaires peut ne pas être floqué, ou peut être floqué au moyen de fibres possédant au moins une caractéristique différente de celles des fibres utilisées dans le premier groupe, par exemple un diamètre, une dureté, une souplesse, une longueur, ou une composition ou une combinaison de ces caractéristiques différents. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, chaque élément annulaire du second groupe peut être floqué sur une surface différente de la surface floquée de chaque élément annulaire du premier groupe. Selon un autre mode de réalisation, chaque élément annulaire du second groupe qu'il soit floqué ou non au moyen de fibres identiques ou différentes, peut présenter une dimension radiale ou axiale différente des éléments annulaires du premier groupe. Les éléments annulaires de chaque groupe sont agencés consécutivement sur un axe ou une tige par l'intermédiaire d'un alésage ménagé dans chaque élément annulaire afin de former la partie applicateur de l'applicateur. Les éléments annulaires sont agencés en séquences qui produisent les caractéristiques désirées.
