A method to measure the internal and external diameters of spigots that involve four cylindrical pins secured in pairs by two rectangular bars. The length of the pins exceeds the width of the rectangular bars and the two bars are identical to each other. When the bars are placed on top of the spigot, the four cylindrical pins are placed in contact with the diameter of the spigot to be measured, in such a way that the centers of the pins are the corners of an imaginary right angle parallelogram. Where 'A' and 'B' are the two sides of this parallelogram and 'C' the diameter of the pins, the diameter of the spigot derives from the following formulae: see formula 1 for the external diameter of the spigot and see formula 2 for the internal diameter of the spigot.
