16 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved floor console for automobiles is provided in which is mounted an article-carrying tray slidably movable between an exposed operative position and a concealed storage position at which the tray is held by operation of a latch assembly. The latch assembly is operative to release the tray after certain inward movement beyond the stored position, and a spring operatively disposed between the tray and a housing of the console assists movement of the tray to the operative position.
