The invention concerns a floor covering consisting of hard panels which are provided, at least on two opposite edges, with coupling means made in one piece with the panels, whereby these coupling means provide for an interlocking in a direction (R1) perpendicular to the plane of the floor covering, as well as in a direction (R2) perpendicular to the edges concerned and parallel to the plane of the floor covering. These coupling means comprise a tongue and a groove. The lip which is situated on the bottom side of the groove is longer than the lip on the top side. The edge which is provided with the tongue is made flexible.

Revêtement de sol constitué de panneaux durs, chaque panneau étant pourvu, au moins sur deux bords opposés, d'un dispositif de couplage qui en fait partie intégrante. Ce dispositif de couplage permet d'emboîter les panneaux dans une direction (R1) perpendiculaire au plan du revêtement de sol, ainsi que dans une direction (R2) perpendiculaire aux bords opposés et parallèle au plan du revêtement de sol. Le dispositif de couplage comprend une languette et une rainure. La lèvre inférieure de la rainure est plus longue que la lèvre supérieure. Le bord pourvu de la languette est flexible.
