ABSTRACT The present invention provides a prefabricated cross- bridge for retarding movement and twisting between adjacent floor joists in a wooden floor which comprises a metal strip having a main elongated portion for extending at an angle to the horizontal between adjacent joists and integral short end portions disposed at an angle to the main portion for attachment thereof between said joists said main portion preferably having at least one elongated longitudinally extending depression therein provided by deformation of the main portion of said strip. The invention thus provides a prefabricated cross-bridge which is light weight and easy to stack thus allowing the carpenter to carry more of the cross-bridges and install them far more quickly than the more awkward aforesaid wooden cross- bridging. In addition, the cross bridge of the present invention does not shrink as does the conventional wooden cross-bridging and thus provides longer term strength and stability.
