The disclosure relates to a floor mat (70) and method for producing the same. The floor mat (70) includes a plurality of tufts (14) extending from a carrier fabric (16) which is joined by a layer of adhesive (24) to a backing having at least one layer of vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer (36). The process for production of the floor mat (70) includes applying an olefin based adhesive to the back of a primary tufted fabric (10) which has been preheated. The process for production includes the further separate step of applying a sheet of vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer (36) of between about 20 and 40 mils thickness with or without a layer of reinforcing material (40) to the preheated adhesive backed primary tufted fabric (10). A second layer of vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer (60) may thereafter be applied following another heating step.

L'invention concerne un paillasson (70) et son procédé de production. Ce paillasson (70) comporte de nombreuses touffes (14) partant d'un tissu de support (16) qui est soudé par une couche d'adhésif (24) à une couche de support comportant au moins une couche d'un élastomère thermoplastique vulcanisé (36). Le procédé de production de ce paillasson (70) consiste à appliquer un adhésif à base d'oléfine au dos d'un tissu primaire à touffes (10) qui est préchauffé, et à appliquer ensuite une couche d'un élastomère thermoplastique vulcanisé (36), d'une épaisseur de 20 à 40 millièmes de pouce environ, avec ou sans couche de matériau de renfort (40), à ce tissu primaire (10) à touffes, préchauffé et à dos recouvert d'adhésif. On peut ensuite appliquer une deuxième couche d'élastomère thermoplastique vulcanisé (60), après une autre phase de chauffage.
