ABSTRACT Apparatus for weighing a load comprises a horizontally extending member for receiving the load. The member has a plurality of corners and downwardly extending frame portions. Shear beam load cells support the member and apply a load resisting force thereto. One and only one shear beam load cell is located at each of the plurality of corners. Means is provided for securing one end of each said shear beam load cell to the downwardly extending portion and means at the other end of each shear beam load cell supports the load cell on a support surface. The means for securing each shear beam load cell at the one end comprises at least one fastener which extends transverse to the direction of appli- cation of the load to each load cell and transverse to the direction of the resisting force applied to each load cell.
