ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A floor shield for protecting the floor from the heat that may be developed by a free-standing heating appliance or space heater that may be restingly supported upon the floor shield. The thermoshield is made-up or assembled from a pair of individual panel members disposed adjacent one another and particularly being situated so as to overlay the area of the floor to be protected. The panel members are constructed so as to have substantially equal lengths for the adjacent sides, thus readily accommodating particular coupling structure for easily joining the panel members one with the other. A significant feature of the coupling structure is that the panel members remain absolutely unaltered by the implementation of the coupling structure.
