ABSTRACT A flooring felt composition comprises various fibers such as cellulose or wood fibers, a synthetic rubber latex binder, fillers, and antioxidants. The binder is a latex copolymer made from a vinyl sub- stituted aromatic monomer, a conjugated diene monomer, an unsaturated acid monomer, and a functional cross- linking agent other than said acid monomer. The floor- ing felt is useful as a backing for linoleum, floor tile, and the like, and has improved heat resistance.
