This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a floral development proteins, more specifically a FT or Ap3 homolog. The invention also relates to the construction of a recombinant DNA construct encoding all or a portion of the floral development proteins, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the recombinant DNA construct results in production of altered levels of the FT or Ap3 homolog in a transformed host cell.

Cette invention concerne aussi la construction d'un gène hybride d'ADN recombinant codant toutes les protéines de développement floral ou une partie de ces protéines dans une orientation de sens ou d'antisens, l'expression du gène hybride d'ADN recombinant débouchant sur la production de niveaux altérés de l'homologue FT ou Ap3 dans une cellule hôte transformée.
