In a method of controlling the flow of cells in an asynchronous network, cell flow in upstream and downstream portions of a virtual connection is controlled by respective upstream and downstream control loops employing resource management (RM) cells. The degree of backward coupling between the two control loops is adjusted to optimize network stability and response time by filtering the downstream Backward Explicit Rate or monitoring the degree of congestion at the boundary between the control loops.
L'invention est une méthode de contrôle de la circulation des cellules dans un réseau asynchrone dans laquelle la circulation des cellules vers l'amont et vers l'aval d'une connexion virtuelle est commandée par des boucles de commande amont et aval correspondantes utilisant des cellules de gestion de ressources. Le degré de rétrocouplage entre les deux boucles de commande est ajusté de façon à optimiser la stabilité du réseau et le temps de réponse en filtrant les transmissions vers l'aval ou en surveillant le degré d'encombrement à la frontière entre les boucles de commande.
