ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A flow meter provides a measurement of the rate of flow of a fluid into or out of a container based on a measurement of the rate of change of the weight of the container. The weight of the container exerts a load on a load cell which deforms in accordance with the weight. Strain gauges mounted on surfaces of the load cell and connected to form a bridge circuit vary in resistance according to the amount of deformation of the load cell. A differential voltage signal is produced at outputs of the bridge circuit. A differential amplifier is connected to receive the differential output from the bridge circuit and to output a signal related to the weight of the container. An analog differentiator receives the signal related to the weight and produces a signal related to the rate of change of the weight. The signal representing the rate of change is displayed as a measurement of the flow rate.
