A B S T R A C T A flue cleaning brush of the type having a series of prong members, preferably made of flat, tempered steel wound on a helical spring core. Another helical spring is interposed between the bristles at a location radially outwardly of the core spring. The bristles can pivot on the thread of the core. There is a spacing between the core and the second helical spring. The bristles can thus flex to facilitate reversal of the brushing movement without strenuous effort while the brush is still within a flue, even if the length of the bristles is considerably in excess of the diameter required for cleaning the flue. A given brush can be used for a number of different sizes and shapes of the flue.
