FLUID ACTUATED IMPACT TOOL Abstract of the Disclosure A fluid actuated impact tool is disclosed of the type commonly known as a down-the-hole drill for drilling of rock. The tool is provided with a reversible casing which serves the dual functions of a casing and cylinder. A partial cylinder sleeve is utilized in conjunction with exhaust rod porting to provide a drill which is simple in construction, has a high energy level of output, and elimi- nates the need for expensive cross porting or axial porting in the parts most subject to wear; that is, the impact piston and the casing. All of the porting in the casing is accomplished by means of circumferential grooves which are readily machined.
