A holder is disclosed for applying the working edge of a doctor blade (14) to a moving surface (12). The holder has upper and lower holder members (34, 36) constructed and arranged respectively to contact upper and lower surfaces of the doctor blade, with the doctor blade projecting forwardly to terminate at its working edge. One of the holder members comprises a composite of sandwiched elements enclosing one or more chambers (52) having forwardly directed outlets (54). A pressurized fluid is introduced into the chambers for forward application via the outlets and along a surface of said doctor blade onto the surface being doctored.

Ledit support se compose d'éléments de support (34, 36) supérieur et inférieur, construits et disposés respectivement de sorte qu'ils soient en contact avec les surfaces supérieure et inférieure du docteur, lequel saille vers l'avant et se termine par son bord d'attaque. Un des éléments de support présente un composite d'éléments en sandwich délimitant une ou plusieurs chambres (52) dont les sorties (54) sont orientées vers l'avant. Un fluide sous pression est introduit dans les chambres, de manière qu'il soit appliqué vers l'avant, à travers les ouverture et le long d'une surface dudit docteur, sur la surface en cours de raclage.
