A B S T R A C T An electrical cable accessory having a tubular member of elastomeric material for gripping the end of a cable to be joined to another cable end. The tubular member is arranged to be dilated to exert an appropriate gripping force. The dilation is effected by introducing fluid under pressure through the wall of the tubular member to the interface between said tubular member and cable and to reduce said gripping force during installa- tion of the tubular member over the cable end.
