In a process for alkylating an aromatic reactant to produce an alkylated aromatic product, the aromatic reactant is introduced into a fluidized bed reaction zone at a first location in the fluidized bed reaction zone and the alkylating reactant is introduced into the fluidized bed reaction zone at one more locations downstream from the first location. The process is particularly applicable to the alkylation of toluene with methanol to produce xylenes.

L'invention concerne un procédé relatif à l'alkylation de réactif aromatique pour fabriquer un produit aromatique alkylé. Le réactif aromatique est introduit dans une zone de réaction à lit flluidisé, en un premier point de cette zone, et le réactif d'alkylation est introduit dans ladite zone en un ou plusieurs points, en aval du premier point. Le procédé se prête en particulier à l'alkylation du toluène avec du méthanol, pour l'élaboration de xylènes.
