ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A circuit interrupter comprises a pair of separable contacts mounted in an arc extinction chamber filled with an arc- extinguishing fluid; a chamber for storing the fluid pressurized in an arc space in which the arc is formed by the separation of the contacts; and means for forming a magnetic field in the arc space, wherein the arc-extinguishing fluid is discharged from the chamber by opening a passage after separating the contacts by a specific distance and the arc is interrupted by puffing the fluid.
