A fluid-conducting swivel (20) includes an upstream conduit (22), downstream conduit (24), and support assembly (26) for holding the upstream and downstream conduit (22, 24) with their fluid passageways (42, 62) aligned, allowing notation of one of the upstream and downstream conduit (22, 24), and maintaining a space (28) between the adjacent ends of the conduit (22, 24). The upstream conduit (22) includes an acceleration nozzle (44) for accelerating the velocity of the fluid flow to such a velocity that the fluid creates a substantially self-contained fluid jet. The downstream conduit (24) includes a deceleration nozzle (64) for decelerating the velocity of the fluid flow and a downstream throat (66) extending between the deceleration nozzle (64) and the end (60) of the downstream conduit (24) adjacent the upstream conduit (22). The downstream throat (66) receives the accelerated fluid from the upstream conduit (22) and is sized to substantially prevent expansion of the accelerated fluid and thereby prevent fluid leakage and pressure loss between the upstream and downstream conduit (22, 24).
