ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fluid flow device comprises a rotor housed in a casing having a slot-like intake and outlet opening. Groups of such devices can be used to form an aircraft propulsion system by drawing-in air from above through the intake openings and forcing the air downwardly through the outlet openings to provide lift and horizontal thrust, the effect being similar to that produced by the wing of a bird.
