Abstract of the Disclosure Device for introducing fluid blocks in submarine cables as a remedy against flow of water into the cable core in case of rupture of the outer cable sheaths. The device includes means for grappling the cable and holding it in a fixed position relative to the device. It also includes means for penetrating the outer protective covers of the cable and thereby wholly or partly closing the open spaces in the cable core. The device may also include means connected to the penetration means for injecting through apertures in the penetration means a chemical compound capable of forming fluid flow blocks in the cable. The device is particularly suitable for oil filled power cables, whereby flow of oil from the cable to the sea is also reduced.
