Fluid Flow Shutoff Valve Abstract of the Disclosure A fluid system has a shutoff valve positioned between a fluid tank and the intake side of a pump. The valve includes a valve spool movable between a first position at which an inlet port connected to the fluid tank is blocked from communication with an outlet port connected to an intake side of the pump and a second position at which the inlet port is in communication with the outlet port. A passage connects the outlet port to a first chamber at one end of the valve spool while a port connects the discharge side of the pump to a second chamber at the opposite end of the valve spool. A spring resiliently urges the valve spool to the first position.
