The invention relates to a drilling fluid having a viscosity at 40°C of less than or equal to 2.5 mm2/s and having a vapor pressure at 100°C of less than or equal to 10 mBars (1 KPa) obtained from a hydrocarbon fraction having a distillation temperature of 200 to 280°C and a naphthene hydrocarbon content of less than 40 wt % of said fraction.
