A system 100, apparatus 130 and method 300 for measurement of a fluid level 122 includes introducing a vibration 308 to a container wall 112 and detecting the vibration 312 after the vibration has propagated at least partially around the container wall. Based on the detection of the vibration, the fluid level 122 in a container 110 and the fluid state is determined 316.
