Abstract of the Disclosure A high pressure pump comprising a valve body having a first housing secured at one of its ends to one end of the valve body and having a body member secured to the other end thereof. A second housing is secured to the body member with a piston rod movably extending through the body mem- ber and the first and second housings. A first piston is secured to the piston rod and is movably positioned in the first housing to define first and second chambers. A second piston is secured to the piston rod and is movably posi- tioned in the second housing to define third and fourth charmers. A first check valve means is in communication with the third chamber and the source of fluid to be pumped with a second check valve means being in communication with the fourth chamber and a source of fluid to be pumped. The valve body has a pilot valve bore formed therein which movably receives a pilot valve means. The pilot valve means is connected to the piston rod so that the pilot valve means will be moved from a first position to a second position when the piston rod moves from a first position to a second position and so that the pilot valve means will be moved to its first position when the piston rod moves to its first position. The valve body also has a main valve bore formed therein which movably receives a main valve means. A hydraulic pump is in communication with the main valve means and the pilot valve means for supplying hydraulic fluid thereto. A first passageway means fluidly connects the main valve means and the first chamber with a second passageway means fluidly connecting the main valve means and the second chamber. The main valve means and the pilot valve means are fluidly connected so that hydraulic fluid under pressure will be supplied to the first chamber, when the main valve means and the pilot valve means are in their first positions, to cause the first and second pistons to move from their first positions towards their second positions so that the second check valve means will permit the passage of fluid therethrough. The piston rod moves the pilot valve means to its second position when the piston rod reaches its second position so that hydraulic fluid under pressure is supplied to the main valve means to move the main valve means to its second position so that hydraulic fluid under pressure is supplied to the second chamber to cause the first piston means to move towards its first position so that the first check valve means will permit the passage of fluid thereby.
