ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A turbine that is rotatably responsive to the pressure of an applied moving fluid comprises a simple unitary structure that includes a pair of end disks which are spaced apart in coaxial relation, and a plurality of curviplanar vanes having rectilinear sides that join the facing sides of the disks. The vanes are formed as right circular planes that are radially and symetrically posi- tioned about the axis of rotation. Innermost end portions of the vanes overlap and define a longitudinally slotted polygonal hollow cylinder aligned coaxially with the axis of rotation. Fluid advancing into a chamber formed by the combination of the end disks and adjacent vanes is com- pressed and applies a force to induce rotation. The com- pressed fluid then enters the cylinder through one slot and is distributed through the other slots to eliminate a negative pressure condition on the trailing sides of the other vanes advancing against the fluid, thereby improving efficiency.
