A fluid reaction device (10) is provided having a rotor (90) with vanes (92) pivotably connected thereto. The device (10) includes an entrance (30) for elevated pressure fluid and an outlet (40) for discharge of the fluid after contacting the rotor (90). The elevated pressure fluid passes from the entrance (30), into a high pressure chamber (80). The high pressure chamber (80) is in contact with inlet ports (74) accessing a cylinder (72) within the device (10). The cylinder (72) supports the rotor (90) with a rotational axis (M) of the rotor (90) off center with respect to a central axis (N) of the cylinder (72). The elevated pressure fluid causes the rotor (90) and an attached output shaft (97) to rotate. The rotor (90) includes a trunk (24) with a plurality of posts (93) extending therefrom and with vanes (92) connected to the posts (93) through hinges (94). The vanes (92) can pivot from a first position collapsed against the trunk (24) to a second position spaced away from the trunk (24). The vanes (92) thus can contact a cylindrical wall (78) of the cylinder (72) while the rotor (90) rotates. Exhaust ports (76) are spaced from the inlet ports (74) and provide communication with a low pressure chamber (82) which exhausts low pressure fluid to the outlet (40).

Le dispositif utilisant la réaction de fluide (10) de la présente invention est pourvu d'un rotor (90) comportant des ailettes (92) fixées par pivot. Le dispositif (10) comporte une entrée (30) de fluide haute pression, et une sortie (40) d'évacuation du fluide après contact avec le rotor (90). Le fluide haute pression admis par l'entrée (30) pénètre dans une chambre haute pression (80). La chambre haute pression (80) est en contact avec des orifices d'entrée (74) pénétrant dans un cylindre (72) situé à l'intérieur du dispositif (10). Le cylindre (72) supporte le rotor (90), l'axe de rotation (M) du rotor (90) étant décentré par rapport à l'axe central (N) du cylindre (72). Le fluide haute pression entraîne le rotation du rotor (90) et d'un axe de sortie (97) qui lui est solidaire. Le rotor (90) est constitué d'une colonne (24) dont dépassent plusieurs supports (93), les ailettes (92) étant fixées aux supports (93) par des charnières (94). Les ailettes (92) peuvent pivoter entre une première position appuyée sur la colonne (24) et une seconde position écartée de la colonne (24), ce qui permet aux ailettes (92) de toucher la paroi cylindrique (78) du cylindre (72) pendant la rotation du rotor (90). Des orifices de sortie (76) écartés des orifices d'entrée (74) assurent la communication avec la chambre basse pression (82) qui expulse le fluide basse pression en direction de l'évacuation (40).
