Abstract of the Disclosure In the preparation of a sample to be subjected to chromatographic separation and analysis, dilution of a sample of material to be analyzed is accomplished by combining a flow containing the sample material with a diluting flow. The diluted sample material thus obtained is sampled and analyzed. In one preferred embodiment spent carrier fluid from the chromatographic separa- tion column can be used as the diluting stream.
