ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a medical device for sampling fluid, typically blood, two check valves are arranged in series in a fluid sampling line to cause the fluid to flow in one direction and a fluid sampler is connected to the fluid line between the two check valves through an adaptor, thereby preventing the fluid from flowing from the sampler to the inlet of the upstream check valve. The inlet of the upstream check valve is connectable to a plurality of source fluid lines through a switching valve for selective communication.
