-9- Fluid Seal Device Abstract A fluid seal device has a plurality of non-contacting fluid seals located at the operative interface between a stationary member and a rotatable member for preventing the leakage of a fluid from a fluid chamber. The first of the non-contacting seals is a labyrinth seal located adjacent the fluid chamber. The second non-contacting seal is a spiral groove located adjacent and in serial relation to the labyrinth seal. A third non-contacting seal is a fluid slinger which is located between the fluid chamber and the labyrinth seal for directing fluid away from the path of operative interface. The fluid seal device eliminates friction and increases the life expectancy thereof when used at the operative interface between a stationary member and a rotatable member such as a crankshaft and block of an engine.
