The use of a turbulent contactor to absorb a selected gas component from a gas stream. The invention particularly applies to a method of removing selected gas components from a gas stream which comprises: bringing the gas stream into contact with a liquid including a solvent or a reagent for the selected gas component in a turbulent contactor, the contactor including a gas inlet, a liquid inlet, an outlet leading to a venturi passage and a tube extending from the outlet back upstream, the tube being perforated and/or being spaced from the periphery of the outlet; subjecting the gas stream and liquid to turbulent mixing conditions in the contactor thereby causing the gas component to be absorbed by the solvent or reagent.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'une tour d'absorption de contact en régime turbulent, cette tour permettant d'absorber un composant choisi à partir d'un courant gazeux. Cette invention concerne plus particulièrement un procédé d'élimination des composants choisis à partir d'un courant gazeux, ce procédé consistant tout d'abord à mettre en contact, dans une tour d'absorption de contact en régime turbulent, le courant gazeux et un liquide renfermant un solvant ou un réactif destiné à réagir au composant choisi, cette tour comprenant un orifice d'admission de gaz, un orifice de sortie menant à un passage type venturi, et un tube s'étendant en amont depuis ledit orifice de sortie, ce tube étant perforé et/ou espacé de la périphérie dudit orifice de sortie. Ce procédé consiste enfin à mélanger par turbulence ce courant gazeux et ce liquide, à l'intérieur de ladite tour d'absorption de contact en régime turbulent, le composant choisi étant ainsi absorbé par le solvant ou par le réactif.
