An improved fluid-strainer housing assembly (16) is provided which makes provision for improved methods of converting the same between motorized and manual modes. The assembly (16) can be driven by a motorized gear unit (76) coupled to a driv- ing shaft (52), the gear unit (76) including a worm gear device (78) receiving end plates (90) and (92) to convert from motorized to manual mode, after removing end plates (90) and (92), the entire gear unit (76) can be removed.
