01-150/6 TITLE: FLUIDIC CAP SORTER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention provides a high speed cap sorter capable of producing an output of uniformly oriented caps from an input of a high speed flow of randomly oriented caps. A fluidic jet cone sensor determines the orientation of each cap without contacting it, by means of minuscule air pressure changes. The jet cone sensor creates a pressure signal corresponding to the orientation of the cap. The signal is amplified to operate an air piston which allows caps having one orientation to pass directly through to an output chute, but ejects caps having another orientation into a second output chute. One of the output chutes is curved to re- orient the caps carried therein, so that the outputs from both chutes are oriented in the same direction.
